Job Description

Job Title: Crane Mechanic Operator
Location: Senegal

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate all lifting equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) operating instructions.
  • Operate offshore pedestal cranes in dynamic environment.
  • Maintain lifting equipment in accordance with COMPANY CMMS) and OEM instructions to achieve maximum availability and reliability, including the following:
  • Planned routine maintenance
  • Corrective maintenance
  • Breakdown repairs
  • Basic fabric maintenance
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records history in COMPANY CMMS.
  • Act as asset focal point for mechanical handling maintenance and conformance with COMPANY CMMS.
  • Carry out operator rounds [pre-use Inspections] of lifting equipment including an inspection for potential dropped object.
  • Participate in the planning, including risk assessment and toolbox talk.
  • Agree the communication method with the signaler prior to undertaking lifts (radio/hand signals).
  • Confirm the load weight and appliance setup is in accordance with Operating Management System (OMS) requirements, local legislation, the manufacturer recommendations and the approved Lifting Plan.
  • Perform condition monitoring activities a required by COMPANY.

 

Person Specification:

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • NVQ/HNC/Recognised Apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance or Engineering Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 assessment Experience of operating and maintaining pedestal cranes in an offshore environment.

  • Be familiar with and understand both Client and Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.

  • Able to deploy operational standards, policies, and procedures to meet regulatory and safety standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Able to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, health, and hygiene.
  • Raise any non-conformance to supervisor in a timely fashion.

Communication

  • Clear, fluent, and expressive use of verbal and written English language to convey information and ideas

Planning

  • Able to co-ordinate daily routines covering both the technical and administrative roles.

Cost / Budget

  • Requirement to control supplies of material / equipment and therefore, the associated costs.

Teamwork / Leadership

  • Able to provide guidance and motivation to teams and co-workers.

Training

  • Complete mandatory training required as defined in the competency training matrix.
