Job Description

Noble Drilling

Under the direction of the Driller, operate/monitor rig equipment and support systems and perform general drilling rig operations, maintenance, housekeeping duties and material preservation activities in support of ongoing rig operations.QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Derrickman.
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
  • Valid BOSIET and IWCF Well Control Surface and Subsea, level 3 certificate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in applications and systems required for the position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

OPERATIONS

  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.
  • Under supervision of the Driller, control actual drilling operations, depending on formations encountered, drilling efficiency, and problems encountered.
  • Under supervision of the Driller, make trips as necessary to change bits, tools, and drill string length.
  • Report to Driller any unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition.
  • Participate in regular shut-in drills with all members of the drill crew.  Be able to recognize pressure problems with the hole.  Know how to line up choke manifold and stand pipe.
  • Recognize kicks, shut the well in and circulate out.
  • Responsible for slipping and cutting drill line.
  • String up and string down the block.
  • Assist service personnel and coordinate drill crew during operations.
  • Assist the Driller in directing and supervising the drill crew depending on operations being carried out.
  • Maintain a continuous log on the well’s history, which includes all equipment used in the well, number of drill pipe joints, special tools used, problems encountered, drilling rate and downtime.
  • Maintain all paperwork required by Noble as well as government and operator requirements.
  • Assist in the continuous training and development of subordinate personnel through on-the-job training or other training as deemed necessary by Noble.
  • Provide leadership and direction for less experienced rig personnel.
  • Encourages appropriate professional development and training opportunities for employees.
